Application of Magnesium oxide
Magnesium Oxide, density is 3.6g/cm3, melting point is 2852℃, evaporation temperature is 1700-1900℃, transparent band: 0.2-8um. Refractive index @ 550nm: 1.65~1.74.
Magnesium Oxide film has good sputtering resistance and high secondary electron emission system, so it is widely used in plasma display (PDP) as a protective film and is an important dielectric protective material. Magnesium Oxide is a highly insoluble thermally stable magnesium source suitable for glass, optic and ceramic applications. Magnesium Oxide is a hygroscopic white powder that forms magnesium hydroxide in the presence of water, it was historically known as magnesia alba (white mineral from Magnesium Oxide).
Magnesium Oxide typically insoluble in aqueous solutions (water) and extremely stable, so it can be used in ceramic structures, which is as simple as producing clay bowls to advanced electronics; and it can also be used in light weight structural components in aerospace and electrochemical applications, such as fuel cells, in which they exhibit ionic conductivity. Magnesium Oxide is an insulating solid inorganic material with a NaCl crystal structure, showing good chemical inertness, electrical insulation, optical transparency, high temperature stability and high thermal conductivity. It is an excellent buffer layer material.
